Shaylur Barry

Staff Sergeant Shaylur Barry proudly served as a 19D Cavalry Scout in the United States Army with the 3rd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division. He was part of the initial invasion of Iraq in 2003, serving on the front lines during one of the most pivotal moments in modern American military history.

Following the invasion, Shaylur completed two additional combat deployments to Iraq in 2005 and 2008, where he continued to display courage, resilience, and unwavering dedication to his mission and his fellow soldiers.

During his distinguished service, Staff Sergeant Barry earned numerous decorations, including:

  • Combat Spurs
  • Combat Action Badge
  • Two Army Commendation Medals (ARCOMs)
  • Four Army Achievement Medals (AAMs)
  • Superior Unit Award
  • Presidential Unit Citation

His unit was also awarded the Valorous Unit Award for extraordinary heroism in combat during the 2005–2006 campaign.

Beyond his military achievements, Shaylur is a devoted husband and father. He is married to Cindy Barry, and together they are raising two daughters, Olivia and Aurora Barry. His story is one not only of valor and sacrifice, but also of leadership, love of family, and continued dedication to his community.
